If you have the opportunity you must go to Tenerife. A wonderful island with the lowest temperature 'difference' between summer and winter for anywhere in the world. If you want to escape from the Europe’s winter, I have no doubt that travelling to Canarias is an excellent option.
Travelling is the best way to renovate people’s mind, at least for me. That’s why I decided to run away to Tenerife. For a couple of days I could avoid the quiet and provincial Lisbon. I think I did it!
Once arrived at Queen Sofia Airport, about 2.00 am, the African earth smell made me dream. I can’t describe in words how wonderful it was that feeling.
In the next morning, 30th December, it was with pleasure that I wore my Swimsuit and following a group of mates, I finally arrived at the beautiful Las Teresitas beach, surrounded by palm trees and a moonish landscape. I can say I had one of the best baths of my life.
In that day, I met a local Tenerife girl. He had lunch together and after that she showed me some interesting spots in northern Tenerife. We visited Puerto de la Cruz and from there we could appreciate how wonderful is the giant Volcano El Teide (3718 m)!
And that’s how the new year had begun! I wish you all the best in 2007.
